Baby Barnaby’s Green Eggs and Ham Recipe

So there’s this magical little brunch place that my friends and I love to go to. There’s very little space and always a line, but if you have a bit of patience a brunch in the sun is lovely at Baby Barnaby’s. The menu has various delicious options with breakfast burritos, pancakes, and the like. But I come here for the Green Eggs and Ham. The eggs are quite literally green and the ham is actually apple sausage (amazing). I crave the green eggs so often that I decided to make my own homemade recipe to save a few bucks and a wait in line! The true version includes artichoke hearts too but I don’t usually have those on hand so I ditched ’em. Just grab a small can and sauté with the spinach to include them if you fancy!

Ingredients:

(Makes 4 servings)

8 Eggs
1/2 cup Milk
2 handfuls of Spinach
2 cloves of Garlic minced
1 Tbs Olive Oil
1 cup shredded Monterey Jack Cheese
Salt and Pepper

1. Put the oil and garlic in a large frying pan and sauté until the garlic has browned.

2. Add the spinach (and artichokes if you’d like) to the pan and cook until the spinach has all wilted.

3. Whisk up your eggs, milk, and a dash of salt and pepper in a large bowl to add fluffiness to the eggs. Pour egg mixture over the spinach and cook on medium low. Scramble the eggs while they cook to mix up all of the eggs and veggies.

4. When the eggs have almost fully cooked, add the cheese and mix around until it has fully melted.

Serve hot with some bacon and toast, or get really fancy and find some apple sausage at the grocery store to cook! You could open your own little B+B at this point.

Ombré Ruffle Cake Decorating Tutorial

Blue Ombre Ruffle Cake Tutorial on Bunny Baubles Blog

It was Megan’s birthday in early May, so obviously we started cake brainstorming in April. She doesn’t love really girly things, so pink flowers were pretty much out of the question. What we settled on, instead, were ruffles, ombré ones to be exact! Making ombré frosting is super simple because you only need one color for food coloring and a simple batch of plain frosting. The ruffle pattern is also a good starter decorating pattern because it’s pretty forgiving, it’s just a lot of squiggles all layered on top of one another so if you need to stop for a tea break you can’t really tell where you stopped. Raspberry Buttercream Filling

Nothing makes a cake fancier or more fun than a special filling. Don’t get me wrong, I love buttercream on buttercream, but when you add a fudge spread or a juicy lemon curd between two layers of cake, people get excited. Continue reading “Raspberry Buttercream Cake Filling Recipe”

Thanks to my little following’s help, I got some recognition with a nomination for the Liebster Award! This is an award for a small blog (less than 200 followers) to help it get some screen time. The Mongoose v. Cobra PB + B Recipe

Mongoose vs Cobra PB+B photo

One of my favorite bars in Houston is  Mongoose vs. Cobra. The small warehouse-esque building shows off it’s original exposed brick walls, complemented by warm wooden tables for resting a hand crafted cocktail on. They have amazing drinks, my favorite being Gold Rush #2 (not sure what happened to #1), and quite the spread of food being served until 1 AM! The food, oh the food… They are famous for their giant (face sized) pretzel which comes with house mustard and pickled everything. But what my friends and I have newly discovered is the PB + B. This was my first experience with the beautiful concoction: pure joy. Continue reading “The Mongoose v. Cobra PB + B Recipe”

Fancy a Gin Bucket Recipe Ole Chap?

Gin Bucket

A couple Saturdays back we hosted a party for my good friend Krystal’s birthday and going away to London for a year (jealous!!!) celebration! In true girly fashion, we decided it needed to be themed. Who would pass up the opportunity to speak in British accents and drink gin all night?! Continue reading “Fancy a Gin Bucket Recipe Ole Chap?”
