Happy October first! This year for Halloween, I wanted to recreate one of my favorite new characters from one of my favorite Netflix shows: Robin from Stranger Things! She worked alongside Steve Harrington at the ice cream shop at the mall, and even though we see her over many episodes, she consistently has her ice cream shop uniform on, thus making it the perfect Halloween costume as it’s her only outfit! I have to say, I was in a rut for Halloween costumes this year. Usually I start researching and brainstorming months in advance, but this year I was overwhelmed by so many other things that it was the last thing on my mind. When I realized I was in desperate need of Halloween inspiration, I turned to my three go-to’s:

Every year I have a lot of emotions around Halloween. They go something like this: excited, determined, overwhelmed, confused, indecisive, excited, REALLY PUMPED! Over at my house we might be the only people thinking about elaborate 80’s character costumes in the springtime. As you [should] know, a birthday party isn’t complete without a theme, and a theme isn’t complete without a full fledged costume. So for Megan’s 25th, our decades party tradition was continued as we headed back to the 80’s. And with that, I got to have another dream come true: become a rock star with pink hair. The outrageous Jem! Continue reading “80’s Jem and the Holograms Costume DIY”
Getting to be a bunny for Halloween last year was really a highlight of costumes for me. Thus, this year it was going to be hard to top. I kid you not, I think Megan and I spent a whole week trying to come up with a costume. All couples, BFF, and group costumes were discussed and shot down one after another. It felt hopeless; like the more we searched, the higher our expectations were and the less I liked every single idea we came up with. This was supposed to be fun – what the heck was I getting so worked up about!? Continue reading “Taylor Swift Blank Space Costume DIY”
