Well, as it so happens, folks, we’ve had two days of snow in Houston in one Winter season. It’s true insanity after living here for eight years and only seeing snow one other time, but I’ll take a day working at home and the best soup weather there ever was! And really, truly, there’s nothing I like better than a big bowl of tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich.

Caramelized Balsamic Onion and Brie Bites
This blog post is fresh off the kitchen table at my parent’s house in Chicago. Surrounded by family and twinkling lights and cookie baking, you could say this breeds the best recipes. We are a family of snackers over here, and so, naturally, I had to cook up a little it’s not dinner yet but I don’t really want to commit to cooking yet snack. Honey Drizzled Goat Cheese Stuffed Figs
Thanksgiving week is finally upon us! Or maybe it snuck up on you and you’re saying, “Thanksgiving week already!?”. That’s kind of how I feel. 2016 has been a blur of a year with each month disappearing as quickly as it arrived, but I’m thankful for every moment I got to cherish with the wonderful people I have met this year or known for over ten. It’s crazy to think I didn’t even know some of my greatest food blogging friends a year ago that I feel like I’ve known now for ages.
Sweet and Salty Sweet Potato Stacks with Maple Prosciutto
Being home with my family so much this Fall, I really got back to my roots. My roots, literally, are settled in with potatoes, being that my parents are both mostly Irish. Thus, I made some potatoes.

Bagel Chip Sweet and Savory Appetizer Recipes
Every party needs some good appetizers. Something the host can easily make almost completely ahead of time and leave out for guests as they arrive.
When I opened up my October Degustabox and found not one, but TWO bags of Chicago style bagel chips, I had to hold myself back from just ripping them open and chowing down. One bag was garlic flavored and the other cinnamon flavored – the perfect basis for a dueling sweet and savory appetizer!

Avocado Fries with Chipotle Aioli Sauce
I’m back again with Degustabox this month, and y’all, this Sir Kensington’s chipotle mayonnaise sauce is like crack. I could put it on anything and love it. The perfect amount of spice in a creamy condiment lends really well as a spread or a dip. So when I saw a recipe for avocado fries on my Instagram friend, The Foodie Physician‘s, page I was totally inspired to pair the two together! Superbowl Snack Recipe Archive
Though my Superbowl plans are not yet set, I am sure to be watching the game, rooting on my third adopted team (Go Broncos!), and snacking hard core.
I like to bring something to the party that’s a little different from everyone else. Though wings, pizza, and chips are needed, there always tends to be like five times too many of all of them. If you’re looking for something original to surprise everyone with, try one of the recipes I’ve shared over the last couple of years!
1. Fresh Mango Salsa – It’s great to have an alternative to the normal salsa with this fresh and zesty one!
2. Hummus (for cheaters – so easy!)
3. The godly Chuy’s Jalapeno Ranch Dip – This might not look like much, but get back to me in an hour when you’re still chowing down like you’ll never get to have it again.
4. Baked Shoestring Sweet Potato Fries – Grab a handful – or ten – they’re baked and way better for you than the normal chips.
5. Decadent Crabby Avocado Dip – This is a great way to feed your vegetarian friends since it eats like a meal and so simple to throw together.
