This Halloween, I knew I needed to get a head start. Last year it crept up on me and my costume was thrown together in a fury. The minion look turned out pretty adorably, yet it wasn’t super original, and it was more stressful of an experience than I’d hoped for. Continue reading “Alice in Wonderland Rabbit DIY Costume”

Candy Corn Rice Crispy Treats Recipe
I’m a huge rice crispy treat fan. They’re incredibly quick to make and you only need a few ingredients that seem to never go bad, so you can always have them all on hand! They also lend themselves well to being creatively changed and molded. Since I’m having a pretty large group of friends over for a Halloween soiree, I decided to get a little crazy with the treats. Candy corn crazy. Continue reading “Candy Corn Rice Crispy Treats Recipe”
Pumpkin Cupcakes with Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting
We are in full on pumpkin season people! If you haven’t heard lately, loving pumpkin things is so called “basic” apparently. Meh, I’m ok with that. Embrace the basic. Embrace the pumpkin. Embrace these frighteningly addicting, oh so delicious Pumpkin Cupcakes with Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting. Continue reading “Pumpkin Cupcakes with Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting”
Modern Gilded Mirror DIY
Megan and I moved last week! Although moving is tremendously painful for us to have just relocated upstairs in our building, we gained an incredible view of downtown Houston and lowered our rent. We’re quite please with our new place. Moving is also a great thing to do, in my opinion, because you really clear out the stuff you don’t really need. I was able to finally raid my closet of old clothes from high school and things that never got unpacked from my first move. It also inspired a redecoration movement… a cheap DIY one at that! Continue reading “Modern Gilded Mirror DIY”
The Simplest Butter Pecan Toffee Recipe
Whenever I come home to Chicago, I know I can ask my family for help with taste testing. Dabbling in candy making has been on my mind, and seeing as it’s one of my dad’s favorites, I tried my hand at a toffee recipe. Continue reading “The Simplest Butter Pecan Toffee Recipe”
An Elevated Tea Party: Amped Up Finger Sandwiches and Boozy Tea
I’d been dying to throw a tea party. The last one I planned had 2 stuffed dogs, a teddy bear, and an American Girl Doll in attendance. There was the tiniest of tea sets filled with water, and those chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry wafer cookies on the menu. It was a spectacular event. DIY Magic Pom Poms
So these amazing pom pom balls were the center point to the decor at my Birthday Tea Party. I needed something fun and whimsical to match the youthful tea party theme, but also beautiful and elegant because….well it was technically an adult tea party after all. And I like pretty things. Surprised? I loved the idea of paper lanterns or beautiful flower arrangements, but I had already spent so much on food and booze (to come soon) that I didn’t really want to shell out a lot more on decor. Inspiration hit at the craft store and I picked up some tissue paper and string. Continue reading “DIY Magic Pom Poms”
Birthday Sneak Peek! Tea Parties and Magic Pom Poms
You’d think I was turning a whole 4 years old today if you purely read the title of today’s blog post. Sadly, no. I am turning 24… what in the world? Although being 24 sounds really old to me, it adds up. I’ve been working in the real world for over a year now and feel somewhere in between being incredibly confident and totally useless every other day. My team seems to have adopted me and my work habits happily so far…might be the sprinkling of baked goods every so often, but I guess we’ll never know… While feeling so adult, there are so many moments that bring me back to how young being a twenty-something is. Example: Movies watched this weekend while party planning included Mulan, School of Rock, and Robin Hood.
I’ve also been blogging every week for 9 months now!! It’s been a serious privilege to have such supportive friends, family, and readers along the way, and it’s the best gift I could receive going into my 24th year. I live, eat, breath, and love this blog with all of my heart. Or sometimes with just my stomach.
I came to terms with being in my “mid-twenties” by hosting a frivolous tea party. Since it was my birthday, I decided to really go for it and plan a party I wanted to attend! This included adorable decorations, tons of food, tea, alcohol, and the best of friends. The only thing possibly missing was a yard full of bunnies… *sigh*
Although I’d love to share all of the makings of this party with you today, it’s my birthday…so I’m taking the day off! Here’s a sneak peek of all of the projects to come, along with my beautiful friends’ faces and a few other random shots. I’ll link the posts as they come in the next few weeks!
