I’m a huge rice crispy treat fan. They’re incredibly quick to make and you only need a few ingredients that seem to never go bad, so you can always have them all on hand! They also lend themselves well to being creatively changed and molded. Since I’m having a pretty large group of friends over for a Halloween soiree, I decided to get a little crazy with the treats. Candy corn crazy.
The concept behind this dessert is simple: take the simple rice crispy treat recipe, split it into three groups, add food coloring, and stack into the candy corn pattern! The result is super cute and a cheap way to feed your party guests, or the little minions running around the house in costume.
I hope you all have a lovelyHalloween! Also I’ll be sharing my costume details with you next week! What’re y’all being??
Candy Corn Rice Crispy Treats
Ingredients:
6 cups Rice Cereal
1 Bag Mini Marshmallows
3 Tbs. Butter
Red and Yellow Food Coloring
Heat up 1 Tbs. of butter in a large pot until it has melted. Add in a 1/3 of the bag of marshmallows and stir until all of them have melted. Add in a few drops of yellow food coloring to get a nice yellow color to your marshmallow mixture. Go for a deep yellow since the cereal will dull the color a bit. Add in 2 cups of rice cereal and combine until it has all stuck together. Press the mixture into a 9″ x 9″ baking pan using a piece of wax paper to flatten it out as much as possible, completely covering the bottom of the pan.
Repeat these steps and use a few drops of yellow food coloring and 1 drop of red to make the orange layer. Then repeat and use no food coloring to make the white layer.
Cut small slices of the rice crispy treats to reveal the fun colored layers!
