My Two Favorite, No-Pattern DIY Face Masks

No matter where you live in the US, it’s safe to say we have adopted mask culture. I’m personally happy to wear a mask. It keeps other people safe from me if I am potentially sick and don’t know it, and me safe from others if they happen to be sick. It’s an easy way to take care of one another and ourselves, and there is no reason we can’t make them a part of our ensembles!

Linen Button Down Dress Sewing Tutorial

Is it just me, or is anyone else sick of wearing pajamas, sweatpants, and leggings? Last time I was sewing with y’all, I was sharing how to make a sweatshirt for all of this staying at home we are doing, but now it is hot and we’ve been home for so long that I am ready for a dress again! Cutoff Cropped Hoodie Sewing Tutorial

Being cooped up at home feels like the understatement of the century at this point. I like to think of myself as a homebody, but in an effort to truly not expose myself to anyone else, it’s been a full on lock down these days. We have been avoiding the grocery store as much as possible and doing pick up when we really need it. Going down stairs to get the mail from our mailbox at our apartment feels like a journey these days. Because of this, I think we can all agree that our normal day-to-day wardrobe staples have changed. Continue reading “Cutoff Cropped Hoodie Sewing Tutorial”

Sequin Mini Dress Sewing Tutorial

Over the past weekend I celebrated with some of my closest friends at my bachelorette party in Austin! Each and every one of them worked together to plan the best weekend of all time – games, crafting, a custom cake, a tea party, a cocktail party, and a wig wearing extravaganza! I’ll be sure to share more of that on my Instagram. The only thing I knew before the weekend was that I was going to need a dress for going out on Saturday night, so I decided to whip up this little cutie!

Something short, sweet, sparkly, and white – perfect for a bachelorette! This was the perfect little white dress to wear out dancing, and it is so much more comfortable than you might imagine. The sequins are not itchy like some I’ve worn before, and they provided just the right amount of shimmer.

When I decided to make this dress out of sequins, I was honestly a little nervous because most sequin fabrics have to be hand sewn or have the sequins removed so that the fabric can be sewn with the machine. Not this fabric, though! It’s incredibly easy to work with because a sewing machine can sew right through it without having to remove each sequin at the seam line by hand.

To make this little white dress, you will need a yard of white sequin material, a yard of milliskin tricot fabric to line it, and some white cord for the straps. The construction is a simple 4 pieces of fabric with only 5 seams total – this project could not come together faster! Check out the tutorial on Fabric Wholesale Direct.

DIY Robin Stranger Things Costume

Happy October first! This year for Halloween, I wanted to recreate one of my favorite new characters from one of my favorite Netflix shows: Robin from Stranger Things! She worked alongside Steve Harrington at the ice cream shop at the mall, and even though we see her over many episodes, she consistently has her ice cream shop uniform on, thus making it the perfect Halloween costume as it’s her only outfit! Matching Pajama Set with Piping Sewing Tutorial

There’s something about getting older that makes you appreciate really nice pajamas. Some of my favorite evenings are getting home from work, exhausted, and loving the feeling of a hot shower and slipping into my PJ’s to enjoy Netflix and my favorite Trader Joe’s frozen Indian meal. My life is exciting, I know. Continue reading “Matching Pajama Set with Piping Sewing Tutorial”
