The Best of Bunny Baubles June 2017

In case you missed my 100 posts on Instagram about my trip to Hawaii, I would like to update you that this post is coming to you in full summer mode from the islands! And if you did see them all, I hope you’re loving them as much as I am. And if you hate them, I think it just means you need one of these.

I have been in Oahu for a week now, and I honestly can’t wait to share a full blog post with travel stories with you guys. It has been gorgeous and relaxing, but at the same time, adventurous and exciting. It’s my first time planning such an elaborate trip on my own, and I have to say it was the perfect balance of scheduled activities and quiet afternoons of spontaneous rest. Don’t remind me that I have to come home tomorrow…

This past June was a whirlwind of travel, covering four different states in one month. I went up to Illinois to help celebrate my brother’s engagement at an adorable garden themed party. It was so great getting time with family, even if it was a quick weekend at home (and for only a $92 flight!). I also visited Las Vegas with Kyle and our parents, but we also took a trip up to Utah while we were there to see Zion National Park – what a beautiful place! Hot. But also beautiful. And then finally Hawaii. The one free weekend in June, Megan’s mom and sister came to visit us and we spent the weekend shopping for wedding dresses – she finally picked one out!

Coming up in July, I am expecting to possibly have a week or two with only one post. I felt like a vacation from everything would be a good mental break, plus I have spent all this time away from home, plus I will be looking for a new apartment, plus I have friends coming into town. Rough life, I know ;)… The few things I want to tackle this month are:

  • A chocolate on chocolate layer cake with strawberry filling. This feels a bit out of season to me, but it is for a friend’s rehearsal dinner, and I can’t deny someone a rich, chocolate cake!
  • An Oahu, Hawaii travel guide. Nine days on a little island makes me an expert at this point I would think.
  • Maybe some more sewing? Maybe some watercolor art? I’ve been looking for the time to just work on something creative that might not be so much of a DIY and more just art. Only time will tell!

Some of my favorite posts from June were the off the shoulder striped dress *heart eyes* and the super easy sparkling pina coladas. Which ones were your favorites?

The Best of Bunny Baubles May 2017

Happy first day of June, y’all! June always feels like the start of Summer to me because it was right when school got out as a kid. Even though I’ve been out of school for years now, I still seem to be inspired to go on vacation at this time of year. So much so that I have three trips planned for June! I’ll be in Chicago for my brother’s engagement party, then Las Vegas with Kyle and our parents, and finally to Honolulu for a week long getaway with some friends!

Let’s do a quick May recap before sharing a few things to come in June:

  • My brother got engaged to his sweet girlfriend Heather, and we cannot wait to add her to our family!
  • We celebrated Megan’s birthday for the first year ever without a full blown themed party. I guess we’re maturing?… maybe…
  • My good friend MP got married in one of the most special ceremonies I’ve experienced where they had a Lutheran and Catholic priest split the duties. Am I the only one who loves the ceremony the best out of the entire wedding? I like hearing about the promises and the hard work to come and am fully comfortable sitting through a two hour ceremony. Marriage these days can be so overblown into this gargantuan party with no real substance beneath it.
  • I started saying goodbye to a whole slew of people that seem to be leaving me. Between med school, business school, and new jobs, it seems that the four year mark has people itching to do something new. So far, I’m still feeling good about Houston.

Coming up in June, I have quite a few posts already planned as I’m trying to prepare for the crazy travel schedule ahead. Get ready for:

  • Summery sweets and drinks! Both needed for vacations and sunny celebrations.
  • Two cute and easy going sewing projects that are coming with me on vacation.
  • More engagement party ideas! Honestly, y’all, I’ve found my calling.

Some of my favorite posts from May were Megan’s ombre birthday cake and the palm leaf pillows. Oh, and I made the peanut butter cup rice crispy treats twice, so know that they are that good and that easy. What were your favorites?

The Best of Bunny Baubles April 2017

Oh April, a month filled with gorgeous weather and tons of celebrating. It’s a miracle I got anything done, but the changing seasons are always so inspiring to me. I actually had four days off over Easter where almost no one was around, and I proceeded to get a lot of crafting done while binge watching the Great British Baking Show. Is anyone not obsessed with that show? Because it’s 100% better than all of the American ones.

Things were very exciting around here as Megan and Ben’s engagement party came and went. We are feeling a little amazed and sad that it is already over… sort of feels like a precursor for how the wedding will end up feeling. Lots of planning, a crazy (but very fun day), and then it was over.

What can you expect from next month? A SUPER adorable summer dress. I really can’t express how much I love it. More recipes, because somehow this month I only published one (who am I???). More pillows, because I have an obsession.

Some of my favorite posts from April were the blue cocktail dress and the DIY candles. They have both been in the works for a while, so it was really exciting to share them with y’all. Which were your favorites?

The Best of Bunny Baubles March 2017

I’ll be honest with y’all that I let the blog slip a little this past month. One week I only managed to get one post up, and another week my Thursday post became a Friday post. Here are my excuses (which I feel are very legitimate):

  1. MY BEST FRIEND GOT ENGAGED! Megan and I have been talking weddings and celebrating all month long. It only happens once so I had to take advantage of every last minute.
  2. A bunch of my friends got into residency programs and are making moving plans which is exciting and depressing all at once – I am so proud of them!
  3. I’ve been working out four time a week for Lent and it turns out that is quite the time consuming task.
  4. I went on vacation to New Orleans with my family for a week  – get ready for a travel guide!
  5. Work was legitimately CRAZY.

Really though, I actually have about 15 projects going on at once right now, and I have just gotten around to photographing them, so get ready for a blog busy April!

Remember those candles I promised last month? They’re coming! Remember the engagement party plans? Also coming! I have two dresses in the works, new home decor posts (Easter and general), and delicious baked goods (no, I have not gotten over my recent muffin obsession).

This last March I also shared with you my food photography tips and tools – it seemed to be a hit! Are there any other posts like that that you would like to see?? Did you miss it? Check out all of the posts from last month below!

Tips for Bright and Colorful Food Photography

One year ago I would not have considered myself an expert on how to photograph anything, let alone style food and products for a blog. Heck, I still don’t even consider myself and expert! But over the last few months I’ve received questions about how I photograph my baking and cooking and have been asked to style and photograph products for a company’s website, so I guess I do have a few tidbits of knowledge to share! The Best of Bunny Baubles February 2017

February is over ALREADY?? I know it’s 2-3 days shorter than the other months, but it really went by faster than I could keep up. I had planned to make a king cake recipe for Mardi Gras and do some more home decor posts per your requests in my reader survey, but alas, life got in the way. Not to worry, it was all fun and games!

I actually ended up going to Mardi Gras in New Orleans to visit friends on a whim – Kyle and I were exhausted from the trip but had such a great time. We also celebrated his birthday, Valentine’s Day, and went to see Yo Yo Ma perform with the Houston symphony, so really we got to spend a lot of quality time together. It’s hard for us to say no to spending time with friends sometimes and just get time alone, but this month really allowed us to take time for our relationship which we both think is really important.

Speaking of friends, we had THREE couples of friends get engaged this month! I am beyond excited for each and every one of them. I’ve known them all since the beginning of their relationships and cannot wait to celebrate their love for each other in the coming year! I hope you’re good with wedding/engagement/bridal ideas because I’ve added a category underneath the party and holiday tab that I know will be getting a lot of traffic!

Enough about February, what are we going to be seeing in March?

  • Beauty and the Beast is coming out and I have a sewing tutorial that is going to be a dream.
  • Like I said before, I’m going to be working on some engagement gifts, so be sure to keep your eye out for more diamond themed everything!
  • I may or may not be making my own wine… !!!
  • I may try my hand at making my own candles. This has been on my DIY wish list for years and I think I’m finally going to just DO IT.

Did you miss any February posts? March is here and I’d hate to see you miss anything!

The Best of Bunny Baubles January 2017

January was truly a whirlwind month. Coming back from an incredible vacation, I had real life and blog things to catch up on that were piled a mile high on my desk. It’s been fun, but I’m happy to actually get back into working out this week (just in time for those Valentines sweets to kick in!) and just having a little more free time to just watch Top Chef and not be multitasking on something else.

What else happened this month? Oh, I don’t know, a whole lot of political stuff that I truly do not want to talk about. Mostly due to the fact that I am now pretty much 100% off Facebook because of seeing way too much political talk, I just don’t want to add to it. Is it important? Yes. Is this blog the place for it? I personally don’t think so.

For me, January was busy, but I feel like I was re-inspired by taking some time off. I’ve worked on making my Instagram more cohesive and tried to take in what you all suggested in my reader survey. More home decor, you say! Working on it… I also can promise you that at least in September I will most likely be moving and will have plenty of new decor to work on. Don’t worry, nothing crazy is happening, just a move to a new place in the same city.

ALSO – Did you catch the new post series? I’m going to be working on a monthly sewing project with Fabric Wholesale Direct! This is going to keep me more accountable on sewing projects… and really help me to finish ones I really want to have in my closet!

Let’s talk more current events. As in what are you going to see in February:

  • Valentine’s galore! I already shared some cute projects with you, but I have even more happening in the background. Though I never really celebrate Valentine’s Day all that much, I love the decor, sweets, and love surrounding it.
  • Another sewing project with Fabric Wholesale Direct – the project this month is a big learning game for me!
  • Decor tips – I had to fix my closet situation in a big way.
  • Remember these guys? They’re back… hopefully can share that post this month if not at the start of March!

Did you miss any January posts? Catch up before February starts to pass you by!

The Best of Bunny Baubles December 2016

Well, we are almost halfway through January, and I realized I never made a best of December post! I was on vacation for the first week of January, so I’m going to give myself a break here. Thanks for hanging in there with me.

December was truly amazing. I secured some exciting new work for Bunny Baubles, participated in tons of Christmas activities, celebrated my 3rd bloggiversary, and spent lots of time with family and friends. Oh, and I went to England for a week and a half! The break was needed and I feel more inspired than ever to create and share my ideas with you all.

In January, look for a new sewing venture with Fabric Wholesale Direct that I will be posting at the end of each month from now on! Also to come is a recap of my England adventures, a few stellar recipes, and maybe some home decor if I can fit in another big project by the end of the month.

After getting some time to reflect, I haven’t necessarily made some resolutions (because that word stresses me out), but I do have some thoughts:

  1. I’m going to try to post twice a week, but I don’t want that to inhibit my creativity. So sometimes it might be once a week just so that I can share really good projects with you all, and not mediocre ones. I figure you would agree that that makes more sense. 🙂
  2. I also am going to try to walk at least 5,000 steps a day. While we were in England, Kyle would pull out his phone at the end of the day and note that we had walked 5-10 miles a day! Though I was eating to my heart’s content, I didn’t actually gain any crazy holiday weight (thank you for your sweet Christmas blessings, oh Lord). I want to keep that up!
  3. I want to focus more on people. Sending birthday cards. Inviting friends for tea. Volunteering. You know, the good stuff. Writing for my own blog I feel like I can get sucked up into this world so focused on myself that it becomes obsessive and unfulfilling. I’ve noticed this void and I want to fill it.

Do you guys have non-resolution ideas for the new year? I promise not to hold you to anything strict. Anyhow, I was crazy busy over the holidays and almost forgot about some of these posts already – take a look to see if you missed anything from December!
