As you may have seen on my Instagram, I helped to host a birthday celebration this weekend! The initial plan for Maggie’s birthday had been to drive out to New Braunfels, float the river, and enjoy each others’ company. Then we got lazy, didn’t want to find a house to stay at, or drive all the way out there. We were also lacking in money from a very fun girls weekend consisting of a little too much shopping and cocktail sampling. Classic. Continue reading “Cake and Champagne Party”

Sparkles and Roses Cake Decorating Tutorial
Great Gatsby screams decadence. The more expensive flair, jewels, pearls, glitter, alcohol, and craziness the better. Since all birthdays center around cakes for me, I volunteered for another double decker creation for Megan’s birthday that I wanted to go all out on. I found a picture on Pinterest of a gorgeous cake from a Wuthering Heights themed wedding, and Megan loved it…with the exception of the big pink flowers. Great Gatsby Soiree – Costumes, Cakes, and Champagne
Themed parties are the absolute best. Everyone has an excuse to dress up, they make for the best decorations, and it gives you a reason to try a bunch of new drink recipes! For Megan’s birthday this year we decided to go with the perfect little Great Gatsby soiree. Like I said, the three main parts of the party included costumes, swanky decor, and 20s style cocktails. Oh, and it wouldn’t be a birthday without a HUGE cake! Check out how we transformed our apartment and forced our guests into full Gatsby party mode (ok, maybe a tad less glamour, but an equal amount of glitter). An Elevated Tea Party: Amped Up Finger Sandwiches and Boozy Tea
I’d been dying to throw a tea party. The last one I planned had 2 stuffed dogs, a teddy bear, and an American Girl Doll in attendance. There was the tiniest of tea sets filled with water, and those chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry wafer cookies on the menu. It was a spectacular event. DIY Magic Pom Poms
So these amazing pom pom balls were the center point to the decor at my Birthday Tea Party. I needed something fun and whimsical to match the youthful tea party theme, but also beautiful and elegant because….well it was technically an adult tea party after all. And I like pretty things. Surprised? I loved the idea of paper lanterns or beautiful flower arrangements, but I had already spent so much on food and booze (to come soon) that I didn’t really want to shell out a lot more on decor. Inspiration hit at the craft store and I picked up some tissue paper and string. Continue reading “DIY Magic Pom Poms”
Birthday Sneak Peek! Tea Parties and Magic Pom Poms
You’d think I was turning a whole 4 years old today if you purely read the title of today’s blog post. Sadly, no. I am turning 24… what in the world? Although being 24 sounds really old to me, it adds up. I’ve been working in the real world for over a year now and feel somewhere in between being incredibly confident and totally useless every other day. My team seems to have adopted me and my work habits happily so far…might be the sprinkling of baked goods every so often, but I guess we’ll never know… While feeling so adult, there are so many moments that bring me back to how young being a twenty-something is. Example: Movies watched this weekend while party planning included Mulan, School of Rock, and Robin Hood.
I’ve also been blogging every week for 9 months now!! It’s been a serious privilege to have such supportive friends, family, and readers along the way, and it’s the best gift I could receive going into my 24th year. I live, eat, breath, and love this blog with all of my heart. Or sometimes with just my stomach.
I came to terms with being in my “mid-twenties” by hosting a frivolous tea party. Since it was my birthday, I decided to really go for it and plan a party I wanted to attend! This included adorable decorations, tons of food, tea, alcohol, and the best of friends. The only thing possibly missing was a yard full of bunnies… *sigh*
Although I’d love to share all of the makings of this party with you today, it’s my birthday…so I’m taking the day off! Here’s a sneak peek of all of the projects to come, along with my beautiful friends’ faces and a few other random shots. I’ll link the posts as they come in the next few weeks!
