DIY Gold Painted Lamps – HEMMA IKEA Hack

How to Paint IKEA Lamp 4

Ah IKEA, the land of recent college graduates and families with rambunctious children. Almost everyone I know has purchased something from IKEA at one time or another. Whether it’s the classic EXPEDIT shelving or the cheap sheepskin rugs, the purchases can be loved for years to come… or immediately regretted. I have a mixture of the two in my apartment. Time for an IKEA Hack! Continue reading “DIY Gold Painted Lamps – HEMMA IKEA Hack”

How to Fix the Tension on Your Sewing Machine

How to Fix the Tension on a Sewing Machine by Bunny Baubles 2

I’ll be the first to admit that as much as I love sewing, it can also be incredibly frustrating. The worst is when you start to sew a stitch, and then the thread bunches up and breaks. If this is happening to you, don’t have a panic attack and give up on your project! (I’ve been known to get overwhelmed by a struggle with my sewing machine in the past…) Your machine isn’t broken, you just need to adjust a few things. Open Back Pom Pom Trimmed Tank Sewing Tutorial

Open Back Tank with Pom Pom Trim Sewing Pattern 1

It’s amazing how something as childish as pom poms could really make a comeback in fashion, but they, along with their tassel sister, are taking over this Summer. A pom pom trimmed tank is just the item that is simple and comfortable enough to want to wear all the time, but special enough to look like you’re trying. This is especially true when it’s paired with a really spectacular fabric. Continue reading “Open Back Pom Pom Trimmed Tank Sewing Tutorial”

6 Favorite Fourth of July Recipes

Fourth of July weekend is here! So much more relaxed than possibly any other holiday and with no preconceived notions (other than fireworks), the Fourth has always been a special holiday for me. I always have a great time because my friends and/or family and I spend time together, cook, and live outside. There’s really not much else you need to have a wonderful day.

In order to properly celebrate, you will probably serve up some sort of beverage and some sort of food, most likely in the colors red, white, and blue. Berries are in abundance. Watermelon is ripe. People are happy.

If you’re looking for a new recipe to take to the neighborhood pot luck this year, try out one of my favorite Fourth of the July recipes!

1. Strawberry Mint Popsicles

There’s nothing better than a cold treat made with fresh berries and herbs to cool you down next to the grill. They’re only three ingredients, too!

2. Watermelon Mint Spritzers

It sounds like I’m obsessed with mint. I guess I kind of am… but in all seriousness, I always serve these up on Independence day and they are such a hit!

3. Lemon Blueberry Cake

This cake is beyond delicious and every time I make it people come back for more. It’s perfect for an outdoor party too because nothing about it will melt in the sun.

4. Peach Caprese Salad

If you’re hosting a slightly more formal party (shirt required, non pool party), peaches are in season and this salad is a fun twist on a traditional recipe.

5. Daiquiris in Pineapple Cups

If you’re going to be by the pool, this is the perfect excuse to make pineapple cups and throw a drink in them. For those of you in Texas, H-E-B also featured this recipe on their Instagram this week!!

6. Lemon Squares

My favorite dessert in general, these lemon squares are a great Summer treat with a super tart lemon curd over a buttery shortbread crust.

Do y’all have any exciting Fourth of July plans? I have a few parties here and there, some furniture shopping to do with the boyfriend who is moving to a nice new place, and probably a drink by the pool. I’d say it’s shaping up to be a good weekend!

Michelada Popsicle Cocktails

Michelada Popsicle Cocktails with Don Chelada 8

Until last weekend I had never had a michelada before. Honestly, I asked a lot of Houstonians and they had the same answer. I think we need to reconsider our life choices, y’all. We’ve all heard of a bloody mary (yum.), but what about it’s beer based cousin? Continue reading “Michelada Popsicle Cocktails”

Dairy Free, Vegan Coconut Vanilla Ice Cream Recipe

Daiy Free Vegan Coconut Vanilla Ice Cream 3

Damn Julia, back at it again with the dairy free desserts. Seriously, I never thought I would find myself here. But it was an accident this time, I swear! Growing up I would have at least 3 glasses of milk a day, but due to some unforeseen circumstances there have been a few changes here and there.
