Being home with my family so much this Fall, I really got back to my roots. My roots, literally, are settled in with potatoes, being that my parents are both mostly Irish. Thus, I made some potatoes.

2016 Presidential Bake Off

Am I the only one who was completely unaware of the second most important voted upon contest of 2016? Every election year, starting in 1992, the “competing” first ladies from the Republican and Democratic parties each submit a cookie recipe that the public can vote on. A truly all-American bake off! It’s called the “Presidential Cookie Poll”. Continue reading “2016 Presidential Bake Off”

Every party needs some good appetizers. Something the host can easily make almost completely ahead of time and leave out for guests as they arrive.

When I opened up my October Degustabox and found not one, but TWO bags of Chicago style bagel chips, I had to hold myself back from just ripping them open and chowing down. One bag was garlic flavored and the other cinnamon flavored – the perfect basis for a dueling sweet and savory appetizer!

In early September I visited Chicago for back to back wedding weekends. While I was there, I had the pleasure of stopping in and spending the day with my grandpa. He lives in the most beautiful modern home that he designed, overlooking a scenic, wooded backdrop. I love visiting that house as I have so many memories of it, and my grandpa has been doing some serious remodeling that is making it a dream house for mid-century lovers like me!

Upon opening my September Degustabox, I was completely pumped about finding two jars of chutney in there. I quickly realized that I had never used chutney before and was unsure of what I could actually do with it.

Y’ALL I MADE BEER! It came out tasting just like a beer you would buy at the store, and I made it in my little apartment. I loved my experience so much that I’m giving a free kit away to a lucky reader! Check the end of the post for entry details.
