How to Make a DIY Tassle Accessory for Less than $10

If you follow fashion, you’ve seen this Rebecca Minkoff bag. It’s been all over spring fashion week in many venues, just being happy and fun and gorgeous. What makes this bag so unique is that it’s adorned in colorful, leather tassels! Like me, you may recognize that you already own way too many purses to really justify buying another one, especially when that purse is over $200 and definitely too trendy to wear over many years to come.

Instead of splurging on a tassel adorned bag, you can make a tassel (or a few) and attach it to whatever purse you want. Then when it’s out of style or you get tired of it, you can remove the tassel or move it to another purse!

I love a good fashion hack like this. The tassel looks so adorable on my last year’s drool worthy Minkoff satchel (similar here). Spending less than $10 and 10 minutes on this project will really give your bag a fun update from last year. And when you decide you want to change it up again, you can just take the tassel off! Or, like me, lean more toward making five more in all the colors of the rainbow…

Try this no fail, fashion DIY steal and let me know how it turns out! Scroll below to see the full tutorial.

Supplies:

1 package of Leather Fringe from Hobby Lobby
Hinged Loop Ring (similar) from Hobby Lobby
Scissors
Hot Glue + Gun

1. Take the leather fringe pieces out of the packaging. You will find that there are two pieces. Take one piece and cut off one strand of fringe to use as the loop. Hot glue this strand in half.

2. To assemble the tassel, fold your fringe strand in half again and hot glue it in place on the back side of one piece of fringe. Then, carefully, hot gluing as you go, wrap the fringe around the loop. Once you get to the end of one piece of fringe, start gluing the other piece around until you have it all glued together.

3. String the loop on to the hinged loop ring and throw it on your purse, jacket, anything!
