DIY Camo Print Athleisure Set with Exposed Hems

As a Chicago native, I never in my wildest dreams imagined I would end up owning anything camo print. But as trends come and go, camouflage is here and I’m kind of digging it! In order to ease into the trend I decided to make the most adorable little athleisure set to wear around the house.

If I was going to commit to camo, I was going to commit to pretending to have any semblance of being rugged. In order to add to the charm of the shorts, I thought it would be fun to add an exposed hem to the design, thus making them even easier to sew. Instead of lining up the side seams of the shorts with the right sides of the fabric matching, I overlapped them to allow the curved edge to show. I also left the sleeves and bottom edges of the tank and shorts exposed to match the sides since this stretch material won’t shed all over the place.

The best part about this set is that it could be used for lounging or for exercising – athleisure at its finest! I think the tank would be perfect for yoga or a spin class, while the shorts have been my go to post-workout uniform.

What do you think about the camouflage trend? Fun for fall or better left in the woods? If you aren’t a camo fan, these can easily be made with any other stretch material. Could be the perfect Christmas gift if you’re looking to get ahead of schedule! Head over to Fabric Wholesale Direct to get the full tutorial.
