Homemade Reese’s Bars Recipe

Homemade Reese's title 2

During a hard time for my family, we said goodbye to my amazing and wonderful grandmother. She was always the most adventurous woman with more self-control than I can ever imagine having. While she held an incredibly slim figure, there was never an absence of sweets at her house. One of my favorite treats she used to make me were her homemade Reese’s bars. She really perfected the texture of the peanut butter to taste just like a Reese’s candy, and the recipe is quick and simple to make! It’s also no bake!

During my recent trip home, I came across Nana’s recipe box and was thrilled to find this recipe! We honored my grandma by making these bars together as a family. We then proceeded to devour them together as a family. It wouldn’t have been a trip home without a sugar coma and a sweet smelling kitchen!

The recipe makes a whole 9″x13″ pan of these babies so unless you have a party to go to or an army of minions to eat them you may want to half the recipe.

Ingredients:

1 2/3 cups Graham Cracker Crumbs
2 sticks of Softened Butter
1 cup Peanut Butter
3 3/4 cup Powdered Sugar
12 oz. Chocolate Chips

1. Mix the graham cracker crumbs, butter, and peanut butter in a large bowl.

2. Slowly add the powdered sugar and mix until combined. You may get to a point where you need to use your hands to bind all the ingredients together.

3. Use a little extra butter, because there isn’t already enough in the recipe, to line a 13″x9″ pan on the bottom and the sides to make it easier to slide the bars out later.

4. Press the peanut butter mixture tightly into the pan and make it as smooth as possible. Baking at home is the best, I always have a little helper!

5. Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave for 30 second intervals on high and stir between intervals until they are melted. I did the chips in two batches in order to make sure the chocolate chips did not burn! Pour the melted chocolate over the peanut butter and smooth out to cover the entire pan.

Homemade Reese's - Step Five

6. Place the bars in the refrigerator for 20 minutes to let the chocolate set. Check that they have hardened, and then cut them up and serve!
