August is the month in Houston where everyone either stays indoors permanently to avoid overall stickiness, or they accept the fact that their faces are going to melt off and drink a whole lot of ice cold wine and beer. I fall somewhere in the middle of these two groups.
Throwing back a few with my friends while playing Bocce is definitely on my “this is a lot of fun” list, but when it’s pushing over 100 degrees F and 80% humidity I get SO dehydrated. A few drinks in the sun can turn into a headache for the rest of the night, so why not hydrate while we dehydrate? I give you the raspberry cucumber rosé spritzer.
This drink is so perfect for the summertime. Muddle up sweet raspberries with cooling cucumber and mint, splash in your rosé, and top with bubbly water. The cucumbers and water in the drink really help to keep your body from overheating, while you can still get a little buzz from the wine.
In other news, have y’all heard about this beer mile? My friends really want to do an unofficial one, but I have tried to convince them that the fun activities that are drinking and running are not ones that I prefer to do together. The closest to that I will get is sipping on a Lonestar while playing kickball… and by playing kickball I mean we are standing in a field just drinking beer. It’s fun. It’s not athletic.
Hope y’all find a reason to mix up some of these spritzers – it’s almost the weekend and I am looking to relax by the pool for once. Seriously, how has Summer flown by and I am still so so pale?
See below for the recipe for Raspberry Cucumber Rosé Spritzers.
Raspberry Cucumber Rose Spritzer
Ingredients:
3-4 Raspberries
2-3 Slices of Cucumber
3-4 Leaves of Mint
3 oz. Rosé Wine
2 oz. Sparkling Water
Ice
Muddle together your raspberries, cucumber, and mint in a glass until they are smashed up and mixed. Pour into the bottom of a wine glass. Top the muddled ingredients with ice, and then add in your rosé wine and sparkling water. Serve with a garnish of extra raspberries, cucumber, or mint.
